The Hampton Athletic Association wants to make everyone aware of a special event taking place at the McCully Field Complex on Monday night June 17th.
Seven year-old Connor Michalek is a Hampton resident who has battled severe brain and spine cancer for several years but has continued to play baseball through all of his ups and downs. Baseball has been one of the few things that has helped distract him and his family from the many hours of doctors visits, testing and intense chemotherapy.
On Monday night, his team (the Pinto Red Sox) play a night game and we are asking anyone who is interested in making a young boy’s life a little brighter to come up and support Connor by participating in the “Connor Michalek Home Plate Tailgate”.
We are hoping to pack the park with fans and well-wishers who can bring along signs, banners, anything to show your support of young Connor. ROOT Sports TV will also be there to capture the event for a feature story in an upcoming Pirates broadcast.
The event begins at McCully Field #3 at 7 PM, with the Red Sox vs. Pirates game beginning at 8:30. Please join us. We would like to show the Michalek family what Hampton Township is all about.
